Hope Sunday School students read "Maddi's Fridge" learning about poverty and hunger.  If you or your child missed this lesson in class... watch this YouTube narration of the book.

Filled with colorful artwork, this storybook addresses issues of poverty with honesty and sensitivity while instilling important lessons in friendship, empathy, trust, and helping others.

HOPE SUNDAY SCHOOL

Collection for Open Door Pantry

We are kicking off our Hope Sunday School hunger project this year by focusing on the needs of people in our local community, and donating collected items to the Freehold Area Open Door food pantry.

Each week in March, we will be collecting a different, much-needed item for the food pantry. We hope your family will participate.

As much as possible, involve your children in choosing your donations, and talk about how these donations will help families. Then bring the items to Sunday School class. A message will be sent out each week to help us remember what’s being collected.

At the end of March, we’ll have a celebration to thank you for your help!

  • Week of March 3rd –  Boxes of Facial Tissues
  • Week of March 10th – Juice boxes or Bottles of Juice
  • Week of March 17th – Toothpaste & Toothbrushes (single or multi-packs)
  • Week of March 24th – Cooking Oil (small or medium bottles)
  • Week of March 31st – Complete Pancake Mix (the kind that you just add water to) & Pancake Syrup

Thanks so much for teaching our children to help our community!

If you have questions please contact Cindy Lynch at lynches4@optonline.net or 732-780-5438

EMERGENCY HOUSING

The Emergency Housing Program

No one should be left out in the cold.

During the winter months from December 1 through March 31, Hope Lutheran Church participates in the Freehold Clergy Association Emergency Housing Advocacy Program

This program provides homeless men a hot meal and a warm place to sleep. Volunteers in our congregation host the men at HOPE, while others sign up to prepare meals or serve as drivers.

HOPE hosts on Friday evenings, with other area churches hosting different nights of the week.

We are looking for volunteers to set up a Long Range Planning Committee.  Contact Cheryl or Debbie Unger if you are willing to help!
